Being able to place intravenous catheters is a fundamental skill to learn when managing sick camelids or those that require intravenous medications. However, the species-specific anatomy and behavioural considerations mean that prior knowledge is key to getting this technique right and will greatly improve confidence in veterinarians approaching this for the first time. This presentation will talk you through the technique for placing intravenous catheters in adult alpacas and llamas. After going through each step in detail, there is a real-time video demonstrating the technique at the end.
Please note that this training material is for VETERINARIANS ONLY.
